On April 22, an event took place in the branch library for youth that did not leave any of its participants indifferent. On the Day of Remembrance of the Chernobyl Tragedy, an event was held here for students of Chuguiv Lyceum No. 6 to remember the events that forever changed the history of Ukraine and the whole world. A special guest was invited to the requiem meeting - Anatoly Ivanovich Spesivtsev, the liquidator of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, a participant in those dramatic events - a person who saw the agitated atom with his own eyes.
The children listened with bated breath to the story about the first hours after the accident, about the courage of the liquidators, and about how important it is to appreciate the fragility of our world.
The young readers turned out to be extremely aware. After the story, they literally bombarded the guest with questions: from "Were you scared?" to "How has nature changed in the exclusion zone over the years?".
At the end of the meeting, the participants together created a symbol of memory and hope – a paper stork. These birds are believed to be messengers of peace and the continuation of life on the scorched earth.
«"We must remember the past to build a secure future" - these words became the leitmotif of the event.
