
On February 13, 2026, the city of Chuguev hosted the funeral of soldier Dmitry Sergeevich Gunchenko, who died while performing a combat mission related to the defense of the Motherland.
Dmytro Hunchenko is a native of the village of Chervona Khvylia, Velykoburlutsk settlement community, Kupyansky district, Kharkiv region. In 2023, Dmytro's native village was subject to mandatory evacuation, and the family was forced to move to Chuhuyiv, which later became their new home.
Dmytro was mobilized by the RTCC and the Kyiv City Joint Forces. He served as a senior rifleman-operator of the mechanized detachment of military unit A3283.
In March 2025, Dmytro Hunchenko went missing on one of the hottest sections of the front. For almost a year, his family did not lose hope and believed that Dmytro was alive and would return home. However, later, his mother received an official notification about the fact of the soldier's death - it was confirmed that Dmytro Hunchenko died while performing combat missions related to the defense of the Motherland. At the time of his death, he was 42 years old.
Given that his native village of Chervona Khvylia is in an active combat zone, the family decided to bury the Defender in Chuguiv. On February 13, 2026, Dmytro Hunchenko was buried on the Alley of Memory with full military honors.
The deceased soldier is survived by his mother and sister.
