Unfortunately, we continue to pay a high price for the freedom and independence of our country. Another of our compatriots fell in the brutal war with the Russian aggressor. On January 28, 2026, the Chuguiv community paid its last respects to Oleksandr Valentinovich Sapelkin, who gave his life for the independence and freedom of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Sapelkin was drafted into military service by the Chuguiv RTCC and SP in May of last year. He served as an assistant rifleman-grenade launcher of the assault battalion of military unit A0501 - the legendary 92nd separate assault brigade named after the Kosh Ataman Ivan Sirko.

Soldier Oleksandr Sapelkin went missing on January 10, 2026 near the village of Oleksiyivka, Sinelnyky district, Dnipropetrovsk region, while performing a combat mission. Unfortunately, the family later received confirmation of the loss of their loved one.

Farewell to the 48-year-old soldier took place in Chuguiv on January 28. Oleksandr Sapelkin was buried with full military honors on the Alley of Memory.

The Chuguiv community bows its heads in deep sorrow. A low bow to the warrior-defender, a bright and eternal memory to the Hero who defended the Motherland and each of us!
