Child custody is a community service that allows children to remain in their family environment even when their parents are temporarily unable to care for them for one reason or another.
If parents find themselves in difficult life circumstances and need support from social services to normalize life, the child is raised in the family of a foster parent at this time.
And even if a child can no longer live with their biological family (in the event of the parents being deprived of parental rights or, unfortunately, in the event of their death due to the Russian war), they remain in a foster family while a guardian, adoptive family, etc. are sought for them.
Thus, the presence of a foster family in the community often saves children from ending up in residential institutions.
How to create a foster family, what are the working conditions and how it is paid - we explain on cards together with the State Service of Ukraine for Children's Affairs.
