Born on October 1, 1973 in the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. She received her secondary education in one of the Kramatorsk schools, and later graduated from the Konstantinov Medical College with the educational and professional program "Obstetrics".
After graduating, she worked for a long time as a nurse at Kramatorsk City Hospital No. 3 in the trauma department. She lived in the city of Kramatorsk and raised two sons. But Olena could not stand aside from the situation in the country and in 2019 she decided to change the hospital wards and the nurse's office to military mode, weapons and saving the lives of our servicemen on the front line.
In December 2019, she was voluntarily called up for military service under a contract through the Kramatorsk OMVK of Donetsk region. Previously, she underwent primary military training in the 300th training tank regiment, which is part of the 169th training center "Desna" in the village of Desna, Chernihiv region. After completing her training, Olena was sent to undergo military service under a contract in the 54th separate mechanized brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa, first as a sanitary instructor of a motorized infantry battalion, and later became a combat medic, and since 2021 she has served as a nurse of the medical evacuation department of the medical company of the 54th separate mechanized brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
One day, during the war, amidst blood, bullets, and dirt, Olena met her love in the war. In February 2021, her marriage to Volodymyr Roskolotko, a resident of the city of Chuguiv, was registered. They dreamed of a happy post-war future. Volodymyr often told his beloved about his native Chuguiv, promised to introduce her to the beautiful Chuguiv landscapes, but soon a full-scale war began. Olena met her as a nurse in the medical company of the brigade in her native Donetsk region, and from the first days, together with her medical colleagues, she saved the lives of fellow servicemen who were evacuated from the battlefield.
For 6 years in a row, first during the fighting in the east within the framework of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO), when the brigade's units were involved in the defense of the Maryinsky direction - the area of the cities of Avdiivka, Maryinka, Krasnogorivka and Kurakhove, and then during the full-scale war, Elena Filimonova came to the aid of her comrades many times. Without unnecessary words, without unnecessary noise - she simply did her job: stopped the bleeding, pulled them out from under the shelling, held the hands of the wounded when it hurt and was scary. She knew what pain sounded like - and how to deal with it.
Circumstances of death:
In October 2025, units of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa continued to steadfastly defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, ruthlessly destroying the occupiers. Medical support is constantly organized at the forefront of the brigade's defense. Medical workers are engaged in the evacuation of the wounded and providing assistance directly at combat positions. On October 31, 2025, Olena Filimonova, together with her three colleagues, left the city of Sloviansk (the location of the medical company's deployment) in an ambulance to combat positions to change their colleagues (a rotation was carried out). Along the route of movement, near the settlement of Starodubivka, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, the car hit a mine, which led to the death of three and the serious injury of one of the medics, and damage to the vehicle. Olena Filimonova received explosive and shrapnel injuries incompatible with life.
Elena Filimonova was buried on November 9, 2025 with full military honors in the city of Chuguev on the Alley of Memory.
She is survived by her husband and two sons.
During her service, Elena Filimonova was repeatedly encouraged for her personal courage, dedication and professionalism shown during the performance of her duties. She is a participant in hostilities and has the state award "War Veteran Badge", in addition, she was also awarded commemorative awards. Among them is the Honorary Badge of the Brigade Commander "Cross of the 54th OMBR).
