Sport as a tool for rehabilitation and return to civilian life for veterans

For veterans, one of the effective ways to recover is veteran sports. It helps:

Recover from injuries and wounds.

Sports improve physical fitness, coordination, mobility, and overall well-being. 

Coping with stress and anxiety.

Regular exercise reduces stress levels, anxiety, and stabilizes your emotional state.

 Finding yourself in civilian life.

Sports build social connections, help set new goals, meet new people, and return to everyday life.

Playing sports is becoming easier, because Ukraine has a state program called "Veteran Sports," which compensates veterans with UAH 1,500 once a quarter for visiting gyms, swimming pools, and active recreation. 

Where can I apply?

In Action, using the Veteran PRO digital service.

To use Veteran PRO:

  • Install or update the Action app and log in
  • In the Services section, open the Veteran PRO tab
  • Choose the desired service

What is needed for the section to appear in the application:

  • Ukrainian citizenship, age 18 or older, and RNOKPP (payer code);
  • smartphone and the Diya application;
  • electronic veteran's ID card.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs receives data for inclusion in the registry from more than 20 military commissions. The ministry is currently working on timely updating of statuses. If you are not in the UARV, contact the Ministry of Veterans Affairs:

Where can you spend money?

At any sports facility that has the seller category code 7941 "Physical Culture and Sports", 7997 "Clubs - Country Clubs, Membership (Sports, Recreation, Sports)". The "Veteran Sports" program is implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine together with Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine  to implement the Veteran Policy Strategy and the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine, developed at the initiative of the First Lady Olena Zelenska.
