
Military personnel who are or have been in captivity are entitled to a number of cash benefits. While the military personnel are in captivity, some of these benefits may be received by their relatives.

Financial support
Military personnel who are in captivity retain the right to financial support.
If a soldier has made a personal order in advance in the event of his capture, the funds will be paid in those installments and to those people whom he indicated in this order.
If the serviceman has not issued such an order, the cash benefit will be paid in the following percentages:
- spouse, parents, legal representatives of children (minors or children with disabilities since childhood) - receive up to 50% of financial support, the rest is stored in the military account
- If there are no relatives listed above, adult children, brothers/sisters whose legal representative is a serviceman, receive up to 20%, the rest (80%) is kept in the account.
- If there are no relatives, all funds remain in the military account until his return.
One-time payment upon release from captivity
Only those released from captivity can receive it. The amount is 100,000 UAH.
An online application can be submitted on the website of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
Annual cash assistance
Paid once a year:
- released from captivity
- to their families while the person is still in captivity.
Size — 100,000 UAH.

Financial assistance to released prisoners upon release from service
Military personnel, except for those in basic military service, are paid — 50% monthly cash benefit for each full year of service.
For conscripted officers - 50% monthly cash allowance.

Where to get free legal support
Everyone can get free legal advice from the free legal aid system. Lawyers will tell you how to apply for payments and what to do if they are denied payment.
Some categories of people are also entitled to free legal aid when applying to court. These are war veterans, family members of deceased defenders, children, people with low incomes (able-bodied people – with income up to 6056 UAH/month; pensioners (by age, years of service) – 4722 UAH/month; disabled people – if their pension or social assistance is up to 6056 UAH), and other categories listed in Article 14 of the Law of Ukraine «On Free Legal Aid». Lawyers will study your circumstances in detail, if necessary, prepare and submit a statement to the court, and represent your interests in court.
