Oleksiy was born on August 27, 1975 in the village of Dernove, Trostyanets district, Sumy region, into a military family. In 1977, he moved with his parents first to the village of Malynivka, Chuguiv district, and later to the city of Chuguiv.
While living in the military town of Bashkirivka, he attended a kindergarten that operated at the military unit. There, in the city of Chuguiv, Alexey went to the first grade of Chuguiv comprehensive school No. 1. Later, his parents moved to a new place of service, and in 1992, Alexey graduated from high school in the city of Zaporizhzhia.
After graduating from school, he entered the Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute. After graduating, he received a specialty in radio instrument making and worked as an engineer, and later as the head of the bureau of the Motor Sich Joint-Stock Company.
His work was associated with the Society for the Promotion of the Defense of Ukraine (SPOUA). He headed this society for several years.
He faced a full-scale war as the chief engineer of Zaporizhelektrotrans. On March 17, 2022, he was called up for mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Shevchenkivskyi RTCC and the Zaporizhzhia city joint venture. He served as part of the 108th separate territorial defense brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a driver-sniper.
Since 2024, he has served as a rifleman in the 2nd rifle division of the 2nd rifle platoon of the 3rd rifle company of the 197th separate territorial defense battalion of the 124th separate TRO brigade, which has been deployed directly in the combat zone (Donetsk direction) for a long time.
Circumstances of death:
On September 10, 2024, Alexei Basov, together with his comrades, was performing a combat mission in the area of the assigned mission in the settlement of Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region. On this day, the enemy was conducting offensive operations, and therefore the position occupied by the detachment was subjected to an artillery raid by the enemy. One of the shells exploded near Alexei, and he received shrapnel wounds incompatible with life. Due to the high intensity of the enemy's offensive operations, the surviving personnel were forced to retreat, and therefore it was not possible to evacuate Alexei's body. Based on this, on September 11, 2024, the mother received Notification No. 7657 that her son Alexei Nikolaevich Basov was missing. Most likely, the enemy, having taken the positions of our defenders, buried the bodies of the dead, and then, as a result of negotiations in Istanbul, in early June 2025, the body of Oleksiy, along with the bodies of other dead Ukrainian soldiers, was transferred to the Ukrainian side and was in the city of Zhytomyr for some time. On June 30, 2025, Oleksiy's mother received notification No. 8975 that her son Basov Oleksiy Nikolayevich died on September 10, 2024.
Almost a year after his death on the field, defender Basov Oleksiy Nikolayevich returned to his small homeland. Oleksiy was buried on July 4, 2025 at the Kapustane cemetery in the city of Zaporizhzhia.
The deceased defender of the Fatherland is survived by his mother and daughter.
У квітні 2026 року в Запорізькій обласній військовій адміністрації відбулася передача державної нагороди – ордена «За мужність» III ступеня – матері полеглого воїна Басова Олексія Миколайовича. Нагороду, якою Президент України посмертно відзначив за мужність і героїзм солдата, вручили його матері під час урочистої церемонії. Ця нагорода – визнання відваги Олексія, який до останнього подиху виконував бойові завдання, захищаючи Україну.
