One-time payment to Heroes of Ukraine and their family members: how to receive

Do you have the title of Hero of Ukraine or have you lost a loved one who was awarded it? You are entitled to a one-time cash benefit. How to get it, where to apply, and what documents are needed — lawyers from the BPD system tell you. 

Who can receive financial assistance?

  • Ukrainians who were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star«
  • family members of Heroes of Ukraine - if the title was awarded posthumously or the Hero of Ukraine himself did not receive a lifetime payment.

How is cash assistance paid to family members of the Hero of Ukraine?

The following can receive the payment: spouse, children, parents. The benefit is paid in equal parts to all family members. If the benefit has already been paid and other relatives apply - the distribution is by agreement. If there is no agreement - the court decides.

To the Pension Fund of Ukraine:

What documents are needed?

Hero of Ukraine:

  • statement
  • passport and taxpayer card
  • document on the award of the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star.

To family members:

  • statement
  • passport and taxpayer card
  • death certificate of the Hero of Ukraine
  • document on conferring the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Gold Star«
  • a document confirming family ties (marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.).

Amount of cash assistance

50 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons - as of January 1 of the year in which the title is awarded. This means that if the title is awarded in 2025, the benefit will be 151,400 UAH. If in 2023, then - 134,200 UAH, and in 2020 - 105,100 UAH.
