Dear residents of the Chuhuyiv community!
Every year on May 8, we honor the bright memory of the millions of people who became victims of the most terrible tragedy of the 20th century - World War II. These days remind us of the terrible price that humanity paid for freedom, dignity and the right to life.
During World War II, Ukrainians made a significant contribution to the victory over Nazism, distinguished themselves with heroism, courage and self-sacrifice on all fronts. Millions of Ukrainians resisted with weapons in their hands, hundreds of thousands fought in underground and insurgent structures. Almost all Ukrainian enterprises were reoriented to the needs of defense. Ukrainian land was one of the main theaters of military operations, a place of large-scale battles and the fiercest resistance. In this struggle, we lost more than eight million Ukrainians and representatives of other peoples who lived on our land. In total, World War II claimed the lives of from 50 to 85 million people around the world.
We bow our heads to those who gave their lives in the fight against Nazism, who brought Victory closer on the fronts and in the rear, who survived the occupation, concentration camps, and deportations.
Today, more than ever, we realize the importance of preserving historical memory. After all, it is on the examples of the past that we build a strong and just future. Currently, Ukrainians with weapons in their hands are defending not only themselves, but all European countries from Russian expansion and are giving a chance to build a more lasting peace and create a new, more just, global security system.
On May 8, we honor the memory of all who fought against Nazism during World War II, and express our sincere gratitude to our modern heroes who today defend Ukraine from the Russian aggressor.
Eternal glory and honor to all fighters against Nazism. May the feat of past generations live forever in the hearts of Ukrainians. We remember! We win!
