Address by the Head of the Chuguiv City Military Administration, Galina Minaeva, on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance for the Chernobyl Disaster

Чорнобиль

Dear residents of the Chuhuyiv community!

April 26 is the International Day of Remembrance for the Chernobyl Disaster. It is a day of mourning and honoring the feat of those who, at the cost of their own lives and health, stopped the spread of deadly radiation, eliminated the consequences of the tragedy, and saved the world from an inevitable catastrophe.

This tragedy has forever left a deep mark on the history of Ukraine and all of humanity. Chernobyl is not only a symbol of pain and loss, but also a symbol of courage, selflessness, and heroism of the Ukrainian people.

Today, in the conditions of a full-scale war, when our country has once again faced a cruel and ruthless enemy, we are especially acutely aware of the importance of remembering the past. The aggressor is not only destroying our cities and villages, but also endangering nuclear safety, seizing nuclear power plants and threatening the world with a new catastrophe.

We bow low to the memory of the heroes of Chernobyl, liquidators, doctors, firefighters, military personnel and all those who fought against the consequences of the accident. Their feat will forever remain in our history.

On this sad day, we remember all those whose lives were taken by the Chernobyl tragedy. We remember those who gave their health, protecting us from the invisible enemy. We are obliged to do everything possible to prevent the recurrence of such disasters.

May the memory of the heroes of Chernobyl inspire us to fight for peace, security, and a bright future for Ukraine.

Sincerely, Head of the Chuguev City Military Administration Galina Minaeva
