On January 14, 2025, the Commission for the Protection of Children's Rights held a regular meeting, at which 20 issues of social and legal protection of children were considered, 18 of them - at the request of citizens. 2 planned issues were also considered on the analysis of the work of the Commission for the Protection of Children's Rights in 2024 and on preventive work to counteract the recruitment of Ukrainian children by hostile special services.
Following the results of the work of 2024, the Commission held 19 meetings, 6 of which were extraordinary, where issues related to the social and legal protection of orphans and children deprived of parental care, the effectiveness of the functioning of patronage over a child, foster families and a family-type orphanage, the implementation of individual plans for the social protection of orphans and children deprived of parental care, and children in difficult life circumstances were considered.
The work of the Commission is coordinated by the Children's Service, whose specialists receive applicants, collect documents, and prepare draft orders and conclusions. The Children's Service prepared in 2024 479 draft orders (71% of which «On granting the status of a child affected by hostilities and armed conflicts»), 20 conclusions regarding the appropriateness or inappropriateness of depriving citizens of parental rights in relation to minor children, determining the child's place of residence, the possibility of replenishing foster families, and participation in raising a child.
To be performed The Law of Ukraine "On Citizens' Appeals"« The Service's specialists personally receive citizens, prepare written responses to appeals related to the competence of the Service and the Commission. During the personal reception for 2024, 694 citizen.
The agenda of the Commission meeting also included issues regarding the termination of a child's stay in the foster care family, the determination of a candidate for guardianship, the determination of the place of residence of a minor child, and the granting of status to children who have suffered as a result of hostilities and armed conflicts.
