Every child should grow up in a family environment, feeling love and care. For this to happen as soon as possible, there should be more adults in the community who are ready to accept orphans or children deprived of parental care into their families.
Today, the "Circle of Like-Minded People" meeting was held at the Center for Resilience, organized as part of the UNICEF project "Strengthening Alternative Care through Support for Better Care Reform in Kharkiv Oblast.".
The purpose of the event is to popularize family forms of upbringing and develop patronage services.
Among the participants are Deputy Mayor - Head of the Executive Committee, Lyudmila Makarenko, Director of the Center for Resilience Viktoria Koroshchupova, representatives of children's services, the center for providing social services, adoptive parents, educators and residents of family-type orphanages (DBST), guardians, foster carers, as well as those who are just planning to become part of such families.
During the event, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about different forms of family upbringing and talk to those who already have considerable experience. Inga Marinka, a mother-teacher of a family-type orphanage (DBST), shared her story of caring for children. She told how she decided to take on raising children, what path they took to do this, and what difficulties they faced.
Graduates and students of family-type homes also told their life stories. Despite their different circumstances, they were all united in their belief: every child should grow up in a family environment.
For those who are thinking about adopting a child, but have many concerns and questions, there is a specialized "hotline" in the Kharkiv region 15-52 or 0-800-300-823 on family forms of raising children, where you can get advice on how to adopt a child.
