The Gallery "Art of Slobozhanshchyna" invites everyone to the report exhibition of the International Repin Plein Air "Ukraine Lives in Songs and Paintings" dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of I. Repin, which will take place from October 25 to November 16.

By visiting the exhibition, you will be able to familiarize yourself with the works of the participants of the XXIV International Repin Plein Air, which was held from July 15 to August 5, 2024. The final exhibition presents the works of 25 artists from different cities of Ukraine and abroad. Unfortunately, the Russian aggression against Ukraine, which is currently ongoing, did not allow the artists to gather in Chuguiv, the homeland of Ilya Efimovich Repin. The plein air was held online, but this format did not prevent its participants from feeling the special significance of this event, because this year we celebrate the 180th anniversary of the birth of our famous countryman.

The slogan of the open-air exhibition «Ukraine lives in songs and paintings» was not chosen by the organizers by chance. After all, it is the Ukrainian song that is the heart and soul of the Ukrainian people. It plays an important role in preserving national identity, culture and history. Ilya Repin loved Ukraine immensely, knew the Ukrainian language, and often sang Ukrainian songs. Wherever he was – in shining and bustling places far from his native home, or in solitude at his Finnish dacha – his heart was firmly connected with his native southern nature, with the everyday life, customs and songs of his small homeland.

Modern artists, continuing the traditions of Repin's realistic art, are often inspired in their work by Ukrainian songs. That is why the participants of this year's plein air sent their works, created based on favorite Ukrainian songs, to the homeland of the great master of the brush.

So visitors to the exhibition will be able to immerse themselves in the magical world of painting and song in their organic, complementary combination!

The grand opening of the exhibition is on October 25 at 3:00 p.m. at the address: Kharkiv, Svobody Square, 5, Derzhprom, entrance 9, 1st floor (entrance from Independence Square). Opening hours: Tue-Fri: 11:00-18:00, Sat – 11:00-17:00.
