
Due to the deterioration of the epizootic situation regarding bird flu in the world, taking into account the increased risk of introduction and spread of influenza during the autumn migration of wild migratory birds and the registration of cases of bird flu in Ukraine (the last 2 cases: 09/26/2024, 4 corpses of swans, village of Mala Skvirka, Bila Tserkva district, Kyiv region and 09/23/2024, poultry, village of Sozonivka, Kropivnitsky district, Kirovohrad region), the threat of the spread of the avian influenza pathogen and Newcastle disease to the territory of Kharkiv region has increased.
In order to protect private farms from the introduction of the avian influenza pathogen, the Chuguyiv District Department of the Main Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection in the Kharkiv region recommends strict adherence to the veterinary and sanitary requirements for keeping poultry, approved by the order of the State Department of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine dated 19.12.2006 No. 100, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on 19.10.2007 under No. 42/13309, namely:
- provide poultry for examination and vaccination against Newcastle disease to specialists of the state veterinary service;
- organize free-range poultry keeping;
- keep poultry in conditions that exclude their contact with foreign (wild and synanthropic) birds;
- the import of new poultry must be carried out from territories free from infectious poultry diseases;
- ensure proper sanitary conditions for keeping poultry (regularly clean and disinfect the premises where poultry are kept);
- poultry care should be carried out only in clothes and shoes specially designated for this purpose, which must be washed and cleaned regularly;
- use only high-quality and safe bird feed, which should preferably be heat-treated (steamed or boiled) before feeding;
- when slaughtering poultry, pollute the environment with slaughter products (feathers, blood, etc.) as little as possible;
- follow the rules of personal safety and hygiene.
In the event of a bird disease, mass mortality, or the discovery of mass deaths of wild and synanthropic birds in fields, forests, or other places, it is necessary to immediately notify specialists at the nearest veterinary medicine department at: 15 Oleksandra Zachepyla St., Chuhuyiv, Kharkiv region, tel.
