On October 8, 2024, Chuhuiv said goodbye to serviceman Oleg Cherkashin, who died in the line of duty in the combat zone in eastern Ukraine.
Oleg Gennadiyevich Cherkashin was born on September 14, 2002 in the city of Chuguev.
In 2018, he graduated from Chuguiv Secondary School No. 8. Then he studied at Chuguiv Vocational School No. 53, majoring in "tractor driver.".
In November 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in Kyiv in the National Guard of Ukraine, then signed a contract and continued to defend the independence of Ukraine in the Kupyansk direction, where he died while performing a combat mission.
The farewell ceremony for Oleg Cherkashin took place on October 8. The hero was buried on the Alley of Memory at the new cemetery in Chuhuiv.
