The village of Kamyana Yaruga: the history of its foundation

The village of Kam'yana Yaruga was founded in 1647 by settlers on "slobodas". To protect the southern borders of the state, posts were built to observe the approach of the enemy. It is known that once limestone was mined in the village, which was transported to Kharkiv, and the streets were paved with it. Kam'yana - characterizes the terrain, indicates the material (a cliff made of stone, a cliff where stone is mined). Yaruga - an ancient Turkic lexeme, meaning "a precipice", "a precipice", "a gorge".
