The majority of Ukrainian teenagers and more than two-thirds of adults have already had at least one incident related to data security. These are the results research digital and AI literacy by 2025.
The numbers also show an important difference: people with advanced digital skills use several methods of protection at once - complex unique passwords, two-factor authentication, verification of sources and messages. The higher the skills, the more layers of protection.
That is why Safer Internet Day, an initiative launched by the European Union and supported in 160+ countries around the world, focuses not only on discussing risks, but also on building a culture of safe online behavior. Ukraine joins this initiative through practical tools for citizens.
«"23% Ukrainians have already encountered cyberattacks using artificial intelligence technologies, and 35% adults reported receiving incorrect or fabricated responses from such systems. This indicates that digital risks are becoming more complex faster than protective habits are being formed.".
That is why we synchronize national approaches with European principles — from preventive education to practical skills training. On Diya.Osvyata, the user can not only learn about the risks, but also practice the algorithm of safe behavior in a safe environment — in simulators and tests — without a real threat to their data or funds.», — notes Yaroslava Deo, Head of the expert group of the Directorate for the Development of Digital Skills and Digitalization of Education of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
For Safer Internet Day, the Diya.Osvita platform presented a special section:

Here are some practical tools you can use immediately:
- educational series on personal cyber hygiene and protection against phishing;
- simulators of online fraud situations with recommendations for children and parents;
- tests to check your own digital habits.
The key activation for Safer Internet Day is the interactive quest "Hyena Hygiene and MereZah". Its heroes are the characters of the all-Ukrainian cyber hygiene campaign of November-December 2025 - Hyena Hygiene and Cyber Soap. In two months, the campaign reached more than 4.1 million users.
The quest simulates 14 typical online situations — from fake job openings to deepfake requests for help — so that the user can safely practice the correct algorithm of actions.
After completing the quest, participants receive a personalized result and a certificate. Those who score more than 70 points out of 140 possible automatically participate in the draw for Diya.Osvita branded merchandise. The campaign runs from February 10 to March 10.
In a digital nation, online security is a basic skill.
