During the current Russian-Ukrainian war, it is especially important to preserve historical memory. One of the events in the formation of Ukrainian statehood that is worth remembering is the battle near the Kruty railway station in January 1918.

Then the brave Ukrainian soldiers were able to detain the enemy. As a result of the six-hour battle, the Bolshevik army lost its combat capability for four days. This played a strategic role, allowing to gain time for the signing of the Brest Peace Treaty with the countries of the Quadruple Alliance. However, the Russian government did not adhere to its terms for long.

The feat of the defenders of Kruty shows that our citizens have always defended their right to an independent and sovereign state. More than 500 soldiers and 20 foremen took part in the heroic defense of Kruty station. Approximately 100 defenders died in battle, including the young men of the Student Kuren, who were captured and shot by the Bolsheviks during the difficult retreat.

Let us forever remember, study our history and prevent the enemy from capturing our land!
