Today, the Chuhuiv community honors the memory of all Ukrainians who gave their lives during World War II, liberating their native land from the Nazi occupiers.

In the morning, the heads of the Chuguiv City Military Administration, the City Executive Committee, and the city veterans' organization honored the memory of the heroes of World War II with a minute of silence and laying flowers at the Memorial in Glory Square.

The expulsion of the Nazis from Ukraine lasted almost 700 days. At the end of 1942, the first settlement was liberated - the village of Pivnivka in Luhansk Oblast. In 1944, a series of operations were carried out that allowed the four Ukrainian fronts to defeat the Nazi grouping "South" and group "A", and to occupy almost the entire territory of Ukraine and Crimea.

The established date of the liberation of Ukraine from the Nazis is considered to be October 28, 1944.

According to the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Ukraine's direct human losses in World War II amounted to over 8 million people.

For the third year in a row, Ukraine is celebrating Liberation Day from the Nazis against the backdrop of full-scale Russian aggression, which began on February 24, 2022.

Вже третій рік поспіль Україна відзначає День визволення від нацистів на тлі повномасштабної російської агресії, яка розпочалася 24 лютого 2022 року.
